What grade point average is required for acceptance?
Minimum of a 3.0 GPA in your last 60 undergraduate hours of letter-grade work earned before receipt of your bachelor’s degree. If you have completed graduate-level course work, they will calculate a second GPA based on your last 60 hours of undergraduate hours plus your letter-grade graduate hours.
To calculate the GPA for your last 60 hours:
Change Country to United States and then enter the classes, hours, and grades.
http://www.foreigncredits.com/Resources/GPA-Calculator/
Start from the bottom of the transcript and count up 60 hours. Be sure to not count courses twice and to only include classes that you have earned letter grades for. Incompletes and withdraws are not used in calculating the last 60 hours.
If you do not meet the minimum GPA requirement:
-
For students who have NOT YET GRADUATED they can retake courses in which they earned Cs, Ds, or Fs. It is especially important to retake and earn As in courses in which students have earned Ds and Fs. This might mean staying an extra semester, but if the goal is to raise the GPA, then this is a viable option for some students.
-
For students who have GRADUATED:
-
Students can get a second bachelor’s degree: Do well in this second degree. Raise the GPA. Work hard in all classes to earn As.
-
In some programs, students can take *GRADUATE* courses as a non-degree seeking student. Make As in these graduate courses. Let’s say a student took 6 or 9 hours and earned As. Those As are added to the “last 60 hours GPA calculation.” However, do not take undergraduate courses UNLESS you plan to get a second degree.
